HELLO SWEET FRIEND!

I’m so happy you’re here.

I’m Marisa, the artist behind Lil & E! I love creating art that spreads light, love, & joy - I pray my work evokes feelings of joy, peace, and positivity. I specialize in watercolor, but enjoy all things creative. I offer original works, prints, stationery, and commissioned pieces.

A Little About the Artist

I’m a wife, mother, and child of God! Born and raised in the good ol’ Midwest, I love small towns and believe our area and the people in it are so special.

I treasure the little things in life - cuddles on the couch with the kids, a great candle burning, a lived-in cozy crewneck, complimenting a stranger to make them smile. I’m what I like to call a social homebody, where I love people but require alone time to reset. Despite what my husband thinks, I need a coffee a day from our local coffee shop - why does it taste so much better than making it at home??

I believe kindness is the only way, and we need to do our best every day to bring it to this world. I find inspiration from simple things; nature, textures, tones, colors. I’m an over-user of emojis and exclamation marks and proud of it! I love encouraging people, especially women, to start something they have been dreaming about.

I’ve always loved creating. I feel like it’s a big part of what I’m meant to do. I thank God for putting this dream on my heart, guiding me to make it reality, and allowing me to share my passion and heart through these gifts I have been given. Thanks for following along on my journey, and if you are new here, welcome! Let’s get to know each other.

- Marisa

HOW IT ALL STARTED

01

CHAPTER ONE

I’d love to tell you how this dream became a reality. I’m a wife to my husband, Kyle, and mother to my two beautiful children, Eli and Lillian. After having Lil, I realized that I had let the creative side of myself slip. With the wonderful chaos motherhood brings, and having dedicated my life to education, I wasn’t making space for creating. Despite the chaotic phase of life, God put it on my heart to make time to create.

CHAPTER two

I started teaching myself to watercolor, finding time in the cracks of life to practice, and was in awe of the natural beauty of the medium. People were starting to inquire about purchasing my artwork, and my eyes were opened to what this could be! With the encouragement of my family and best friend, I started my business Lil & E, named after my children, the most important things in this world to me.

CHAPTER three

I poured my heart into my business for 3 years - painting early mornings, late nights, and any free time I had. I got to a point where I knew I wanted to devote more time to painting and to lil & e, and my wonderful husband agreed it was time to step away from education and pursue art full time! I could pinch myself daily, thinking about how my passion from the time I was a little girl, is what I get to do for my career.
